Gardaí have confirmed that they have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Garda Detective Adrian Donohoe.
According to RTÉ News the arrest was made over the weekend.
The arrest comes more than five years after Mr Donohoe was brutally killed outside Lordship Credit Union in Co Louth.
Detective Donohoe was tragically shot dead by an armed raiders who trapped them inside the credit union car park whilst he and another Garda were carrying out a cash and transit run in the area.
RTÉ say a man aged in his 20s has been arrested in connection with the incident and he is currently being detained at Dundalk Garda Station.
