Anti-Eviction and political activist Ben Gilroy was given a 3-month jail term in Mountjoy today.
He was found to be in “contempt of court” in relation to a community service penalty. Mr Gilroy’s wife Sarah Jane was interviewed earlier today by investigative journalist Gemma O’Doherty outside the Bridewell garda station where Ben was being processed.
Tonight, on the Facebook page “Tiger Reborn”, Gemma O’Doherty stood with Ben Gilroy’s wife and asked people to join them in a peaceful protest outside Mountjoy prision tonight at 8pm.
The hashtag #FreeBenGilroy has circulated social media all day while a GoFundMe account has been setup to help with Ben’s family while he is in prision.
