Breakthrough: Medical researchers working on new injection treatment that would lower cholesterol and prevent heart attacks

There was good news for patients who suffer from high cholesterol as the European Heart Foundation announced that treatment for the illness could be soon set for a change as a team of medical researchers from the University of Medicine Vienna are working on a new injection that will actively lower cholesterol.

The new jab which could help over 250,000 Irish patients would replace the current treatment of statins and could indeed help reduce the risk of a person suffering a heart attack.

Although researchers say the new injection is still being developed by researchers they say it could effectively change the way treatment is handled in the future.

It is thought the new injection would actively stop fatty deposits from building in a person’s arteries and in turn lower the risk of a heart attack or stroke taking place.

However the potential new treatment is yet to undergo human trials and researchers say it could a further 5-10 years to develop.
