Scientists in the National University of Galway have made a breakthrough in cancer research.
The team at NUI Galway have found that a protein, USP9X, contributes to the duplication of DNA in cells and protects from the development of cancer.
This breakthrough for cancer research could aid the development of a cure for the terminal illness.
The results of their study, a collaboration with the prestigious IFOM research institute in Milan, Italy, have been published in the international journal, Cancer Research.
