Breakthrough: World’s first Malaria treatment vaccine to be introduced next year

The fight against Malaria has taken a step in the right direction recently after scientists and Doctors have confirmed they have developed the world’s first vaccine to fight against disease.

The new RTS,S vaccine which is scheduled to be introduced in 2018, will apparently be able to fight of the desease which kills over 430,000 people a year by assiting a sufferers immune system to attack the malaria parasite.

The new revolutionary jab which has been welcomed by the World Health Organization (WHO) will be launched in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi within the next year.

Speaking about the vaccine’s introduction a WHO spokesperson explained that the vaccine will only be successful if its recipients recieve the correct treatment. The spokesperson said the new treatment has to be administered four times – once a month for three months and then a fourth dose 18 months later.

Although the treatment has been highly successful in clinical trials, doctors say they are not yet sure if the treatment can be successful in the “real-world” given the current health care constraints in the effected regions.
