Brexit Border: Major uncertainty as to whether Ireland will once again have a physical border

It’s literally anyone’s guess at this stage as to whether Ireland will once again tragically see a hard border imposed on entering and leaving the north.

Years of troubles, tensions, division and deaths were thankfully left behind when the Good Friday agreement was implemented and relieved Ireland of any physical land border.

Now Leo Varadkar, Simon Harris and Simon Coveney look poised to impose such a border once again on the Irish people.

Absolutely nothing is certain at this stage but the EU look likely to tell the Irish government that Varadkar and Co. will have to erect a border if a no-deal brexit materialises.

The implications of a physical land border are horrendous. Checkpoint Charlie would see traffic stopped and backed-up to and from the north of Ireland entering into the south.
