Brexit just took a big step closer to becoming reality as the UK’s House of Commons passed the European Union Withdrawal Bill with a comfortable majority.
Theresa May’s Conservative government will now have to contend with attempts by the opposition and those who favoured remaining within the EU, to amend the bill in a possible effort to soften Britain’s split with the EU before the final vote on the bill near the end of the year.
Dire predictions about Brexit have thus far proved unfounded with the UK economy continuing to grow and London remaining the world’s global financial centre, even extending its lead over New York since the Brexit referendum.
