Brexit: United Kingdom Independence Day – UK says bye bye to EU

In what many claim to be an upset, the UK have voted to leave the European Union.

Early indicators showed the Remain side was assured victory, but as the night went on, a swing to the Leave side started to emerge.

Around 3:30am, it became apparent that the Leave side would win by 52% to 48%.

Nigel Farage of UKIP lead the charge to leave the EU.

He gave a victory speech at 4am where he said:
“Today, June 23rd 2016 is the United Kingdom Independence Day”.

“It’s a victory for decent people, real people and hard working people”.

“We did the impossible but we did it together”.

It now appears as though both David Cameron and Jermey Corbyn, who both campaigned for a Remain vote, will both step down as their respective Conservative and Labour party leaders.

There is already talk on social media for Ireland to hold a similar In/Out referendum.

Would you favour it?
