Brief retirement stint ends early for former Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan as she accepts new high profile policing position

It has been brief retirement stint for the former garda commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan as it has been announced that the former leader of the Gardaí has secured a new high ranking position.

Ms O’Sullivan who retired from the force less than three months ago due to prolonged scrutiny over her position and the Garda force in general, has reportedly landed a hugely important role that will see her working with authorities across the globe.

According to RTE News, the former Garda chief has been rewarded for her time served in the Irish police force as she has been officially appointed as the Director of Strategic Partnerships for Europe at the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

It is understood that Ms O’Sullivan will create a moment of history for the organisation as she will become the first person to be hired and based outside of the United States.

Meanwhile the association say Ms O’Sullivan’s role will mark a significant change for the agency as her new duties will involve developing stronger relationships with authorities in the EU which in turn will help them expand their global relations.

They also say Ms O’Sullivan will officially take up her role later this year.
