Syria has condemned the UK for considering military action to tackle the source of the ongoing refugee crisis. The government in the UK is working to persuade Labour MPs to back the plan of carrying out airstrikes in Syria.

Syria are said to be outraged by the UK’s attempt to interfere in the country’s affairs. The Syrian foreign ministry has sent two letters to United Nations chiefs outlining their outrage at the “brazen standpoints” taken by British officials and accusing the UK of a “colonialist” agenda.

Chancellor George Osborne had earlier acknowledged that the refugee crisis needed to be tackled at its source in Syria. He has said that means dealing with the “evil” regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad head on.

An estimated 250,000 people have been killed during Syria’s four-and-a-half year conflict and around 11 million people have fled their homes.
