Brooks say’s no to Páirc Uí Chaoimh concert despite earlier reports of 2017 concert

According to reports this evening American country musician and global superstar Garth Brooks has quashed earlier reports by saying he has no plans to play in Páirc Uí Chaoimh next year.

The news comes after the Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Des Cahill, claimed that talks were underway to host the country star. However a spokeswoman for Brooks told reporters that the singer did not “have any such plans at this present time.”

The spokeswoman’s comments come after Mr Cahill told The Neil Prendeville Show on Cork’s Red FM, that both Brooks and Adele are expected to play at the GAA ground next summer following it’s €70m redevelopment.

Mr Cahill said: “Negotiations are underway to sign contracts . . . June was the date I heard for Garth Brooks and July was the date I heard for Adele,” before adding that he was “very, very confident” that both artists would play the Cork venue next year.
