29-year-old, construction worker, Iosif Popitan, has been jailed for 18 months after threatening his wife and attacking his neighbors with a metal bar.
Iosif pleaded guilty to burglary and for making death threats against his wife in September and October 2011.
Originally from Romania, Iosif in living at Mobhi Court, Glasnevin. Neighbors where at home when the burglary occurred. Iosif and two other men forced their way in and attacked the neighbors with metal bars. They stole cash, mobile phones and a bag which contained a laptop and passport.
A month after the burglary Iosif threatened his wife over the phone. A gardai was with Iosif wife at the time and reported a domestic dispute.
He was then arrested and claimed that the cause of his domestic abuse was due to money pressure.
