Bye Bye Big Brother: Channel 5 confirms that BB and CBB are to end

Fans of reality TV were left disappointed today as Channel 5 confirmed that the current series of Big Brother will be the last.

The show which has aided since the year 2000, will see it’s final run begin this evening after an 18 year spell. In a brief statement published today Channel 5 said it would not longer be airing either Big Brother or Celebrity Big Brother in the future.

The statement which was published via social media reads as follows: “The forthcoming series of Big Brother will be the last – of either celebrity or civilian versions – on Channel 5.”

“We’d like to thank Endemol and all of the production team who have worked tirelessly to make the show a success.”

“We’d also like to thank our brilliant presenters – Emma on Big Brother and Rylan from Bit on the Side – for their consummate professionalism, Marcus, the voice of Big Brother and all of the housemates who have created so many memorable moments.”

“Most importantly, we’d like to thank fans of the show for their support over the last seven years. We look forward to giving the final series a brilliant send-off.”

The cancellation of the series comes just over seven years after the broadcaster took over the rights of the show from Channel 4.
