Hundreds of workers in Cadbury’s factory in Coolock, Dublin are going on strike from 7 am tomorrow morning.
Cadbury, which is now owned by the Swiss group, Mondelez International, have proposed to outsource 17 jobs of directly employed workers as part of a restructuring proposal.
Mondelez said that “it needs to streamline to become more sustainable and competitive for the future”. The company has put forward proposals including a €11.7 million investment in new chocolate making technology.
The proposal was rejected by 350 SIPTU and Unite members and workers will strike from tomorrow for an indefinite duration.
