David Cameron has bowed to pressure and has decided to allow more refugees into the UK. The UK will house thousands more refugees fleeing the unrest in Syria.

Syrians will be taken from the UNHCR camps on the border of Syria to safety in the UK. Cameron has not yet given a fixed number but it is not expected to be a large amount.  He said the UK would “fufil our moral responsibilities”.

Cameron and his government are reported to be concerned that allowing more refugees into Europe will simply encourage more people to make the dangerous journey from the Middle East and north Africa.

Following the emergence of the picture of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi, his washed up on a beach in Turkey public opinion changed.  More than 120,000 people have signed a petition started by the UK Independent calling for Britain to accept more refugees seeking safety in Europe.
