Catholic lay body to seek clarification on Sisters of Charity/St Vincent’s maternity hospital deal

The Catholic lay body “The Lumen Fidei Institute” is to seek clarification from the Sisters of Charity regarding the exact circumstances surrounding the sale of St Vincent’s hospital.

The Institute claims that as a Catholic religious order established by “Pontifical Right” the sisters will need clearance from Rome to dispose of the property, something which they claim will be impossible to be given because Rome cannot be party to an action which will lead to an intrinsic evil such as abortion.

The Institute will also be calling on the Nuns to release details of exactly how lands which they have held in trust to be used for exclusively Catholic purposes can technically be transfered into a new entity which appears to be categorically clear about not holding to a Catholic ethos.

A spokesman for the Institute claim that they have been contacted by Catholics from right across Ireland voicing serious concerns about what appears to be happening.

One caller asked “Do the Nuns really expect us as Catholic people to allow 180 years of Catholic sacrifices, dowries and careers to end up leading to an abortion mill in south Dublin”.
