It has been confirmed that the ‘brother’ of Cecil the lion, Jericho is alive and well.

Rumours of his death have begun to circulate but photographs now prove that he has come to no harm. Jericho the lion was spotted early this morning at 6.15am by members of WildCRU who have been tracking the pride for nine years.

As the Mirror reports, Professor David Macdonald, WildCRU’s Director said: “JERICHO IS ALIVE AND WELL. Last night we were surprised so see rumours of the death of a second lion, Jericho, circulating in the media – we had no evidence for this.”

Rumours of Jericho’s death began to spread after The Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force issued a statement on Facebook on Saturday: “It is with huge disgust and sadness that we have just been informed that Jericho, Cecil’s brother, has been killed at 4pm today.”

Zimbabwe has suspended the hunting of lions, leopards or elephants since the death of Cecil while it investigates the incident.
