A group called Border Communities Against Brexit is staging demonstrations at six border locations this afternoon, highlighting the UK’s plans to the leave the European Union.
The largest “checkpoint” is near the Carrickdale hotel in Co. Louth.
Organisers are handing out leaflets, saying the ‘hard Brexit’ policy of British prime minister Theresa May will mean severe restrictions on those who live in the border region.
The group say that Brexit will mean the reintroduction of a border checkpoint which would inconvenience workers and drivers no end.
