Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan calls on close contacts to adhere to medical advice




The Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has called on those who have tested positive for Covid-19 and those who are close contacts to follow public health advice.

In a number of tweets this evening Dr Holohan said “We need to have cases and contacts acting fully in accordance with advice”.

Dr Holohan also said that although it may be difficult those with Covid-19 and those who are considered close contacts should self isolate even if there are other people in their home.

The Chief Medical said anyone who is diagnosed or a close contact should stay away from members in their own home and under no circumstances should they attend attend work, school or public areas.

Holohan also advised those self isolating to disinfect their room every day.

Although he admitted that such measures are tough he said these steps will actively stop the spread of Covid-19.
