Child abduction fraudster Karen Matthews reveals she fears for her life after BBC drama highlights the case

According to reports in the UK convicted fraudster Karen Matthews has recently revealed that she deeply fears for her life.

The mother who came to the attention of the world after staging the abduction of her young daughter Shannon, recently claimed she is too frightened to leave her home after the recent screening of two part BBC drama, The Moorside.

Karen, who recently completed a four and a half year prison sentence, has apparently told friends and relatives that she has received nothing but death threats since the show was broadcast to a 7 million watching British public.

The mother who purposely hid her daughter away in a staged abduction in attempt to con the British public and police for reward money, has since revealed to a close friend that she has been left too scared to leave the house.

The unnamed source recently told the Mirror, Karen cannot leave her home she is scared, she also said the ex-con told her the following: “I cannot go out of the door. I’m frightened out of my life. I’m shaking like a leaf. I’m shit scared to even get any shopping or anything.

“I know I can’t stop it but why does it have to be dragged up again? Why don’t they just leave me alone and let me get on with my life?

“I’m worried I’ll have my windows smashed right now. I’m too scared to go anywhere. I feel isolated. If I could go back I would ask the police to reinvestigate everything… the truth’s going to come out.”

Despite serving a lengthy prison term Ms Matthews still claims her innocence and denies any wrong doing in the case of her missing daughter.
