A man who has been found guilty of sexually abusing his six year old daughter has reportedly cut his own throat upon hearing his conviction in court it has been revealed.
According to the Leicester Mercury newspaper the man who has not been named due to legal reasons and for the protection of the young victim, apparently slashed his own throat repeatedly whilst he was hearing his conviction at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
The paper states the defendant who was found guilty of several counts of indecent assault, reportedly slashed his throat a number of times before the onlooking court room as the judge residing over the case read out the verdict.
It is understood the man who had a number of previous convictions smuggled a razor blade into the courtroom under his watch.
He was reportedly then tackled to the ground by custody officers before he was later rushed to hospital were he is being treated for multiple neck injuries.
Following the frantic scenes the defendant was unable to reappear in court to hear his sentencing, however following a brief recess the judge of the case sentenced the defendant to a further five years in prison, to run along with his current seven year conviction which he received for unrelated offences.
