After a chilly and frosty start of the day, Thursday afternoon is expected to be rather bright and relatively mild for the time of year, with temperatures reaching 14C in places.
The national forecaster has warned that there are some cold nights in store, however, as temperatures plummet to -2C in some areas.
The outlook is for little or no rain over the next few days, and mild temperatures of up to 18C during the weekend.
