Clerys closure: Staff to hold daily protests outside store

The well-known Dublin department store Clerys, on O’Connell St., suddenly shut its doors for good on Friday, leaving almost 500 people out of work.

Workers met at Liberty Hall yesterday, and later marched to the now closed store bearing “Justice for Clerys Workers” placards.

Union representatives have now confirmed that they will liaise with workers to organize a daily roster of protests to show their anger to the store’s new owners, and to ensure the appropriate redundancy payments are paid out as quickly as possible.
