Cloak of invisibility! Leading scientists discover new material that could see Harry Potter’s cloak of invisibility being made a reality in the future

I am sure that every Harry Potter fan dreams of owning an invisibility cloak, well that could all become a reality in the future as scientists have discovered a new material that refracts light in an unusual way resulting in an object being made invisible.

It is believed that boffins at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and the Russian Academy of Sciences have made a new metamaterial consisting of a two-dimensional matter made of silver elements that refracts light away from the material making it appear invisible.
Leading scientists at the institution say: “when light is incident on the surface of such a material the refracted light is on the same side of the normal to the surface as the incident light.”

Basically what they means is that the metamaterial will copy a surrounding reflection so well that the wearer of the cloak will instantly find himself stepping into the shoes of Harry Potter with certain small areas becoming invisible. However if you have hopes of sneaking about the place completely undetected you are out of luck as scientists say that complete invisibility is not currently on the cards, as the material would only make small objects appear invisible to the naked eye, but they do say there is a real possibility that the material can be manipulated to make larger objects invisible to the naked eye.
