A man from Co Longford will be sentenced next year after he pleaded guilty to social welfare fraud after he took tens of thousands of euro in social welfare payments.
Patrick Stokes (37), with an address at Lanna Aobhinn, St Michael’s Road, Longford, was found guilty of 246 charges of accepting illegal payments of over €50,000.
Mr Stokes was also found guilty of receiving a number of payments in the name of another person and stealing the money on numerous dates at a post office in Renmore, Co Galway and the Permanent TSB Bank, Main Street in Longford over an eight-year period.
Mr Stokes will be sentenced on the 10th of February for the offences, although he has been remanded on ongoing bail.
