Soft drinks giant Coca-Cola has announced the acquisition of the Costa coffee brand for £3.9bn.
Costa’s current owner, the Whitebread business group, bought Costa for £19m back in 1995. The chain fielded just 39 outlets at the time. Today, Costa operates more than 2,400 stores.
The move will add coffee and other hot beverages to Coca-Cola’s product portfolio.
