Concerns growing amongst management at Irish Rail after staff voice their disapproval at €500 Dunnes Stores voucher bonus

There could be strike action at Irish Rail in the coming weeks ahead as staff are allegedly unhappy with their Christmas bonus.

The threat of strike action comes after staff voiced their disapproval when they were given this year’s Christmas bonus which is though to be €500 worth in Dunnes Stores vouchers.

Reports say workers who held industrial action last month voiced their disgust after they received the vouchers this week.

It is understood there are growing concerns amongst management at the company as staff have already complained that the vouchers undermines the Labour Courts recommendations that also seen them receive a 7.5% pay increase over the next three years.

It is thought staff want unrestricted vouchers such as an One 4 All voucher  which can be used at a number of stores nationwide.

However over the past 24 hours Irish Rail staff have denied that they have complained about the vouchers following widespread public criticism.
