Controversy on the Great Irish Bake Off last night as paramedics were called after contestant became ill during coffee cake challenge

There was controversy on the Great Irish Bake Off last night as producers of the TV3 show were forced to call paramedics after one of the contestants became ill during the cookery show.

The contestant named Ailish Carrigan who is from Co. Laois is understood to have become ill during a challenge that involved the baking of a coffee-cake. It is thought that presenter Anna Daly became increasingly concerned for Mrs Carrigan’s health after she became seriously overwhelmed when her first attempt at the cake failed. The shows host apparently asked the distraught. contestant if she was ok, to which Mrs Carrigan replied: “I’m making a mess and I’m under a bit of pressure to be honest.” The county Laois native further explained: “I couldn’t get the butter to dissolve properly, it was so hard, it must have been straight from the fridge so I had to start all over again. I would have liked to been further at this stage”.

The incident clearly caused great concern amongst the producers and the host Anna who calmly tried her upmost to calm a stressed-out Ailish down by asking her to take a few deep breaths. However a short time later, Mrs Carrigan was forced to abandon the challenge after she complained she felt faint, which resulted in the show’s producers calling emergency services to attend to the distressed contestant, it is then believed paramedics arrived at the filming location which is in Tinakilly House, Co. Wicklow within a matter of minutes.

Meanwhile a short time after the incident the show’s host Anna revealed the bad news that Ailish would not be returning to the show.
