The Cork GAA county board have condemned those who have brought confederate flags to recent matches.

Speaking to RTE about the flag issue the County Board, chairman Gerard Lane said that those who bring the flag to games should not do so in the future due to what it represents.

Mr Lane said the county board condones the use of the flag which was used during the American Civil War as it was widely regarded as a symbol of the pro-slavery Confederate states.

Mr Lane added Cork GAA does not want these flags representing them at Croke Park or anywhere else and he hoped that people will now be educated on the issue and therefore not bring them to GAA matches in the future.
