Synergy Credit Union, in Fermoy, Co. Cork, finds itself at the center of embezzlement accusations, after it emerged that over €400k was taken from customers’ accounts.
It is understood that financial irregularities were uncovered during an internal review in September 2016.
An individual accepted responsibility and has been cooperating with investigating authorities on the matter.
The organization said that all funds were returned to the customers’ accounts.
