Cork’s two upcoming Ed Sheeran concerts could be in jeopardy over floodlight funding dispute

Ed Sheeran’s upcoming concerts at Pairc Ui Caoiamh this May could be in jeopardy after a disagreement has occurred between the GAA and the Cork City Council.

According to The Irish Examiner newspaper, the concerts could potentially be cancelled after a dispute broke out between the pair over funding for new lighting outside the stadium.

The Examiner say the disagreement has come after city hall rejected the GAA’s offer to help cover the cost of putting in lighting around the newly redeveloped stadium.

It is understood the City Council have said the GAA’s offer was unreasonable given the excessive cost of putting in the lighting, which must be put in place in order for pedestrians to leave the venue safely.

It is hoped the dispute can easily resolved in the coming weeks ahead as Sheeran is set to play two concerts at the venue this May.
