Couple given 12 months to demolish their beautiful home built without planning permission

A couple in County Meath have been told by the Supreme Court that they have 12 months to demolish their palatial home which they built in 2006.

According to the Irish Times the house was built on land which the couple bought from a farmer in the mid 2000s.

They allegedly built the 6,200 sq ft house without the proper planning permission and Meath County Council took the couple to court to have their house at Faughan Hill, Bohermeen, Navan, taken down.

Much uproar has been seen on social media after the verdict to demolish the house was given the go ahead.

Social media users claim “how can this happen with the amount of people homeless already, they’re making this couple demolish their home”. Another said “it’s just not right, give them the planning permission now!”.

What do you think of the verdict to have the house demolished?
