Crisp brand Walkers apologises to its customers after PR stunt backfires resulting in images of well known serial killers and paedophiles appearing on its Twitter page

The manufacturers of Walkers crisps have found themselves in hot water recently after an online PR stunt spectacular oh backfired in the most sickening way possible.

The crisp brand which is famed for its regular giveaway promotions felt the wrath of social media this week after its latest compitition offering Champions League tickets went horribly wrong.

In its latest PR stunt the company decided to run an online Twitter compitition that asked followers to submit a selfie in order for it to appear beside brand spokesman Gary Lineker in return for the chance to win the much coveted tickets.

However the PR stunt got more than it bargained for when fans (in what can only be described as sick joke) decided to bombarded their Twitter page with photos of well known serial killers and paedophiles instead.

The rather unfortunate scenario then resulted in the company being left with a number of inappropriate photos appearing in a video that was compiled by an online bot.

Among the photos to appear in the video included brand spokesman Gary Lineker holding cardboard cutouts with images of criminals such as Jimmy Saville, Free West and Harold Shipman amongst others.

Meanwhile Walkers have since apologised to its customers and have decided to pull the ad campaign citing an unforeseen set of circumstances and a technical error for the fault.
