Crumlin Hospital to carry-out review on 3,500 genetic testing transcripts after patient is diagnosed with ovarian cancer




Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin had confirmed that it is to carry-out review of around 3,500 transcriptions of BRACA genetic testing results.

According to RTE News, the review is being undertaken following an error with one result.

Although the hospital say the review is a precautionary measure, it is understood that a review is being conducted after one test result had a transcribing error.

Crumlin Hospital say the error was made after a previous patient now a young woman was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and is currently seriously ill.

The hospital have since issued an apology to the patient involved.
