Dáil set to discuss Bill that would see repeat offenders being electronically tagged

According to reports this morning the Dáil will sit later today to discuss a new Bill that would see those awaiting trial being electronically tagged whilst they wait for their court date.

The new Bill which is being proposed by the Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald’s legislation would see repeat offenders being tagged before their trial.

It is believed the move is being introduced in the hope that it will cut down crime.

It is also understood the Bill would see the introduction of temporary driving bans for those facing serious traffic offences.
