Dáil to be dissolved next week ahead of announcement of General Election date

The Government’s day of reckoning is upon it.

The current Dáil will be dissolved next week, as the General Election date will soon be unveiled. Friday, February 26, has been put forward as the likely date for the festivities.

Meanwhile, Labour have come just short of setting up stalls to give out free money to people, announcing that there suddenly is an extra €10billion available to play around with.

Joan Burton has promised to get rid of the ‘interim’ USC for those earning less than €72,000 a year, also to increase old age pension by €25 over five years (that is, an increase of five euro per year).

All those vaporous pre-election promises notwithstanding, Labour’s support currently stands at a lowly 8%, and the party is widely expected to cease existing as a political entity at the coming election.
