Starting on December 1st, cash fares across several Dublin Bus, Irish Rail and Luas lines will increase. This price hike is expected to encourage the use of leap cards over cash (the card price will be 20% cheaper).

The 4-7 stage bus trip will be grouped in the 8-13 rate, meaning that it will be now 15 cents more expensive, for a price of 2.70 euros. The trip for school kids will increase 5 cents in cash and two if paying with Leap Card.

Different types of multi-service and rambler tickets will see an increase of 2.6% to 3.7%.

The Luas 1, 7 and 30-day pass will also increase its price in 4%, and it will be €60 more for the yearly ticket for some users. The three-month and annualthree-zone tickes will be discontinued (so commuters using the three-zone will now have to get an all-zone at a higher cost).

Finally, single fares on Irish Rail are set to increase between 1.8% and 2.1% on the Leap Card, and between 1.9% and 3.7% in cash. The 3 day all-zone and the monthly and annual tickets will also cost 3.9% and 3% more respectively.
