Dangerous: Teenagers are daring each other to go missing for a “72-hour-Challenge” just so they go viral on social media

There is a very dangerous dare going on in Ireland with teenagers. The dare is called the “72-hour-challenge”.

It involves teens daring each other to go completely missing for 3 full days. They can’t tell anyone where they’re going, what they’re doing or how they’re doing it.

They have to leave their mobile phone at home and take off without leaving any information or any notice to anyone.

The dare started in both America and the UK earlier this year, but it has been confirmed a number of “challenges” have occurred in recent months here in Ireland.

The amount of Garda resources and time and effort people go to, let alone the worry of family, friends and communities, has emphasized how dangerous and outrageous this so-called dare truly is.

The objective of the dare is to get as many shares on Facebook and Twitter as is possible.

Gardai generally send online publications such as The Liberal a short description of a missing person with an accompanying photo and information on where the person is from and when they were last seen.

They then ask us to ask our readers to share the article on Facebook and Twitter with their contact information. Realistically, Facebook is the king and is the one that people want their image spread on.

What it means is that genuine missing people are at risk of not having the resources at their disposal. It also means that the “boy who called wolf” mentality could put the people who take these challenges at serious risk themselves.

For any readers contemplating such a dare, please think very carefully and refrain from doing something so extremely dangerous.
