A deadly virus called ‘monkeypox’ which is related to the disease smallpox and has origins in West Africa has appeared in England for the first time ever, the UK Express reports.

The disease was diagnosed in one individual in Cornwall was staying a naval base in the southern English city and the man has since been transferred to the Royal Free Hospital in London.

The symptoms of the virus are an outbreak of puss filled sores and rashes across the body and it is spread by human to human contact. The often-fatal disease is most often observed in Central and West Africa.

Now there are fears the virus may have spread to others as the man who was first diagnosed, Nigerian naval officer, flew to the UK on a commercial flight from the African country.
