The political crisis in Northern Ireland looks set to continue as Sinn Fein have rejected the most recent offer from the DUP, designed to return the parties to Stormont.
The DUP touted the offer as meeting Sinn Fein’s most ardent demands, namely the Irish language Act, with the DUP promising that the proposal would be brought forward in due course.
Sinn Fein have rejected this on the basis that this offer brings nothing new to the table.
With the deadlock continuing unabated for several months some unionist politicians have called for alternative measures to restore the Northern Ireland executive.
