Well known businessman Denis O’Brien has initiated legal action against members of the Dáil Committee on Procedure and Privileges.
Such move has arisen as a result of the committe’s decision that independent TD Catherine Murphy did not abuse her parliamentary privilege when making claims about O’Brien’s business affairs.
It is understood that legal letters have been sent to each member of the committe.
The ten-strong committee, chaired by Dáíl Ceann Comhairle Seán Barrett, is expected to meet in the coming days to discuss the development.
