A mum fighting for her daughter’s treatment has been informed by The Department of Health that it would be “wholly inappropriate” for the Minister for Health Simon Harris to intervene and instruct a doctor on what medical treatment should be given to her daughter.

The mother at centre of the storm Vera Twomey, who has become national news in recent weeks has revealed she has not been given a straight answer in regards to whether or not her daughter Ava can receive cannabis treatment for her rare form of epilepsy.

Speaking today Ms Twomey said: “If we go in today for our appointment and we meet our neurologist, we’re depending on hope.”
