Department of Housing confirm that a further 70 new modular homes will be built in Dublin to ease the current homeless crisis

The Department of Housing have confirmed that seventy more modular homes will be built in Dublin.

It is understood the two and three-bedroom makeshift homes will be built in Cherry Orchard, Ballyfermot and Finglas.

The latest announcement comes after the Department confirmed that 506 modular homes will be built in the capital to ease the current homeless crisis.

Although only 22 homes have been built the government say a further 130 homes will be completed by the end of the year.

The alternative housing project was approved last year after the modular housing system proved to be successful in other cities such as London who have provided thousands of homes to homeless people trying to get back on their feet.
