Determined: Peter Casey vows to start ‘a new Fianna Fail’ if the party refuse to accept him

Former Presidential candidate Peter Casey has vowed to create his own new political party if Fianna Fáil reject to take him on board.

Mr Casey who gained a large following during the course of the Presidential election has said he is willing to start a ‘new Fianna Fáil’ if the current party are not interested in retaining his services.

Speaking to Miriam O’Callaghan on RTÉ Radio One, the presidential candidate who gained over 23% of the public vote last Friday, claimed that the party needed someone like him to shake things up.

Mr Casey who has since been rebuffed by the party also told the programme that he has every intention of running in the next General Election and he claimed that he would like to do it as a Fianna Fáil TD representing Donegal.

He added that he believes he should represent Fianna Fáil as the party was always about the people of Ireland.

The latest developments will surely raise a few eyebrows within the Fianna Fáil party as a number of high profile figures within the party have admitted that they would not like to see Mr Casey join their ranks.
