Devastated owners of dog ‘Finn’- missing since December -receive sad news that he was ‘shot by a farmer’ in Co Monaghan

Finn, missing since December 7th believed to have been shot

Owners Joy and Bernard Borchart had been searching for their beloved boxer dog Finn since he went missing last month.

Today they received the sad New that Finn is believed to have been shot by a farmer in Co Monaghan.

The loving owners had organised a huge campaign to find Finn who went missing on the 7th of December.

Finn was only 2 years old

Finn’s owners hired a private private detective with funds raising on their Facebook page which has over 30,000 likes.

Detective Liam Brady delivered the conclusion that the 2-year-old boxer was shot dead by a farmer.

On the Bring Finn Home page, Joy said: “It is a sad day today for our family.

“Liam Brady the PD has informed me that he has reliable information from a local source that Finn has been shot in a field. This incident apparently occurred on 7th December.

“As you are all aware Finn went missing on 7th Dec and the FB page was set up on 16 th December.

“During that week there was sufficient time for that farmer to inform us of these circumstances to be informed that this had occurred.

“This is in direct violation of current Irish legislation and both ethically and morally unsustainable. In simple terms a cowardly act.

“Sadly there is no more that this campaign can achieve, I am heartbroken for my gentle silly Finn, I have no more words to describe my anguish.

“I am filled with gratitude for the over whelming help and support I have received from the public.Finn has become loved by so many…not just us his immediate family.

“Finally to Debora Gough..for setting up the Bring Finn Home page and her incredible support to us all over the past difficult weeks…thank you are not big enough words.

“For now. I will grieve for my boy.”

The remainder of the funds raised to try bring Finn home will now go to other dog charities.

Mr Brady generously his fees with some being used to pay Liam for administration and telephone expenses only.

“He has most generously decided to waive any fees. The remaining amount in the fund after this, will be given to dog charities/rescue. Full details, together with receipts, will be published on here as soon as they are available.

“We cannot thank you all enough for caring, for your overwhelming generosity and and for giving such amazing support throughout this sad time.”
