In an absolutely disgraceful incident, an elderly lady was attacked and robbed while she was visiting a graveyard in South Dublin.

The incident happened at 2:10pm last Friday afternoon at Bohernabreena Cemetery. Unbelievably it was two women who attacked her.

The thugs approached the woman and allegedly grabbed her arm, threatened her and stole her jewelry and cash.

The assailants left the scene in a gold coloured car which was driven at speed.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the aggravated robbery.

The theft was one of a number of incidents which has occurred at the graveyard in the last year. It’s said to be quite an isolated area but nevertheless – people should be fully entitled and safe to visit the graveyard when they wish, specifically during the day.

An increased garda presence has been present around the Bohernabreena Cemetery since last week’s incident in an effort to find the perpetrators.

Gardai are appearling for anyone with information to contact Tallaght Garda station on 01-66-66-000 or the Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
