A Garda investigation is underway after a number of windows were deliberately broken at a Co Offaly church this week by a group of vandals.
The investigation comes after a number of glass panels at St Catherine’s church in Tullamore, were smashed by ruthless vandals who used rocks.
Although it is not known why the windows were broken, it is believed that the act was carried as a prank.
It is understood that the act was carried out between Monday and the early hours of Wednesday morning.
According to RTE News, the local reverend said that an estimated €70,000 worth of damage was caused by vandals.
Meanwhile Gardai say they have begun an investigation into the incident and have appealed for witnesseses to come forward and contact them.
