Gardaí in Dublin have issued an appeal to the public after an elderly woman was sickeningly attacked during an attempted robbery in Dublin on Friday.
It is understood the woman aged in her 70s, received a number of injuries in the attack which occurred at bus stop in Newgrove Avenue, Sandymount,shortly before 7pm last night.
Gardai say the woman was approached by a man who was aged in his early 20s, who tried to take her handbag.
However following a struggle the male ran off, whilst the elderly woman sustained a number of injuries before she was later taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for treatment.
Gardaí say they are urging anyone who may have been at the bus stop on Newgrove Avenue on Friday night or anyone with any information to contact them at Irishtown Garda Station on 01-6669600, the Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
