The scheme which applies to every family who has a child under the age of three, has already hit a snag as the Minister for Children announced that from September, over 9,000 will miss on the subsidy due to a delay with a new IT system.
It is believed that families are being cut due to the fact the department cannot share information with the Department of Social Protection.
Speaking about the fault Childrens Minister Katherine Zappone said families at the higher end of the lower income group will lose out until they fix this, explaining:”Part of the challenge there is the sharing of information between Minister Varadkar’s department, the department of social protection and also the revenue commissioners information on income and making that to come together in the background in terms of that IT system.
“We are still working on that, there are lots of issues relating to the legislation for that.”
