Animal welfare authorities in the UK are currently searching for the individual who shamelessly and heartlessly abandoned a terminally Ill dog in a public park.
According to The Express newspaper, the disgraceful incident has left staff at the RSPCA shocked and saddened after the the loveable dog named Bert was left in Clissold Park, in Stoke Newington.
The appalling incident was uncovered after a member of the public became concerned for the dog’s welfare after his owner left him tied in the park on his own for over an hour.
Although they initially believed that Bert’s owner only left him for a short while, the member of the public was forced to contact the RSPCA after the dog’s owner failed to return.
The Express say, Bert, aStaffordshire bull terrier, was sadly found collapsed at the scene when rescue staff from RSPCA arrived at the scene.
Following an initial examination rescue staff uncovered that Bert had a swollen stomach and severely grown nails on his paws.
It was later revealed that the lovable dog was suffering from terminal cancer and he has been described as being in a bad way.
A RSPCA spokesperson told the paper that staff were doing all they could to help a seriously ill Bert, but unfortunately his overall condition was very bad.
They added that they are currently looking after Bert and they are trying to make him as comfortable as possible.
